- Go to the Google Play Store and/or Apple App Store and get the Nighthawk App.
- Use a cable to connect your modem to your router.
- Power on your router.
- Join Wi-Fi from your mobile phone using the default network name and network key.
- Go to the Netgear Nighthawk application and select New Systems Setup.
- Wait for a while for your router to be recognized by the app.
- Answer the security question correctly to continue.
- It takes a few seconds for the router to process the change.
- If necessary, update your router with the latest firmware.

Configuring a Netgear router over the web
- Connect your modem to your router using an Ethernet cable.
- Connect your computer to your router using an Ethernet cable.
- Turn on the power switch on your Netgear router.
- Enter the IP address into your web browser.
- Click Enter to search and the login page will appear.
- Log in using the router’s default username and password.
- Go to advanced options on home page
- Go to the setup wizard.
- Select Yes and move on to the next phase.
- Wait a few moments for your router to automatically detect your Internet connection
- Choose a new administrator password when asked to do so.
- Correctly Answer and select any two security questions.
- Click Firmware Update to update to the latest firmware. And now we can start using the router.
